There is still one place available for this workshop. Please send us an email to email@example.com if you would like to participate.
Participants shall have a good command of the English language both orally and in writing.
This workshop will provide participants with an overview of general and specific aspects particular to opposition proceedings before the EPO as well as an overview of case law relating to them. The focus of the workshop is on procedural matters.
The specific points made will be related to assessing appropriate reactions to situations occurring during oral proceedings, such as hearing of witnesses and handling requests for apportionment of costs in opposition proceedings, as well as what to do, or rather what not to do, during oral proceedings.
Participants will take part actively in a simulation of oral proceedings during the workshop. The simulation will be targeted to allow a variety of events which can happen during oral proceedings to be experienced in 'real time' by the participants, also in roles which are unusual for them, such as within the division, in order to be beneficial to their later work.
At the end of the workshop, the participants will have an improved understanding of oral proceedings before the EPO. They will also receive a collection of decisions of the Boards of Appeal relating to various aspects of oral proceedings.
The workshop is aimed at Professional Representatives seeking to improve their practical experience of representing before the EPO.
Minimum requirements: Basic experience in Oral Proceedings is recommended. Candidates to the EQE will not be admitted.
A registration fee of EUR 800 is levied, covering workshop material and catering for the whole event. The fee cannot be split and is once paid only refundable until 29 days before the first seminar day. After this date, there is no refund possible.
