Description

In October 2010, USPTO Director David Kappos and EPO President Benoît Battistelli announced the intention to create a joint classification system initially based on ECLA and incorporating the best classification practices of both offices. The joint system would be called the Cooperative Patent Classification or CPC.

In this training session we will bring you an update on this bilateral endeavour and show how the EPO's ECLA and ICO symbols are being integrated into the CPC. We will also familiarise you with the features of this new classification system which is scheduled to enter into force on 1 January 2013.
