Description

This public seminar focuses on the search reports and written opinions issued by the EPO and how to interpret the information they contain. In particular, the seminar reiterates the relevant regulations, terms and expressions used in European search reports (EESR) and international search reports (ISR), as well as the interpretation and analysis of search results and findings of written opinions. It will look at different scenarios associated with the understanding of written opinions, including special situations such as lack of unity, complex applications, incomplete search and exclusions from patentability. The seminar takes into account different technical areas (chemistry, physics-electricity, mechanics). Supported by lectures and exercises, participants will acquire hands-on experience in dedicated workshops and have the opportunity to discuss related topics with EPO experts, as well as in plenary sessions.
