Description

The seminar covers clarity and unity issues at the search stage within the framework of the European patent granting procedure, including also insufficiency of disclosure. The course includes the presentation of strategies for dealing with clarity, unity and sufficiency of disclosure issues and reviews the legal background, with the emphasis on practical cases in the fields of physics/electricity/mechanics and biology/pharma/chemistry. The harmonisation of practice at the national offices - and the relevant legal differences - are also considered.

Prerequisites

Participants must have a minimum of 2 year's search and examination experience and a very good command of English, both orally and in writing, or shall have attended the entry level course on clarity and unity (OS08-2013).
The present course should be combined with one of OS14-2013 (novelty and inventive step - intermediate level) or OS15-2013 (novelty and inventive step - advanced level) which take place right before OS11-2013 on 10 to 12 June 2013.
