Description

This seminar provides an in-depth training on examination in the field of biotechnology. A focus is set on novelty and inventive step, in particular related to sequences, patentability of antibodies and of microarrays, including structural obviousness, selection inventions in biotechnology, questions of patentability including exclusions and exceptions, as well as clarity and unity in the field of biotechnology. Practical examples related to these issues will be discussed. Reference to related EPO case law will be made. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss related topics and own cases with EPO experts.

Prerequisites

Participants must have a minimum of 4 years of patent examination experience in the field of biotechnology or in a related field. Furthermore, a good command of English, both orally and in writing, is required.
