This seminar provides a training for staff of NPOs to improve their skills related to dialog (both in written form and orally) with patent attorneys and applicants. It has been observed that patent examiners may have difficulties to reply to communications received from attorneys/applicants and may hesitate to schedule interviews to discuss cases orally with the attorneys/applicants. This results in large backlogs of files at the patent offices. Based on presentations by experts and practical hands-on exercises, participants will receive advice on how to efficiently communicate with attorneys/applicants, that is how to best reply to communications received from attorneys/applicants in response to office actions. Furthermore, based on presentations and role plays, participants will learn how to efficiently perform oral communication with attorneys/ applicants during interviews.
On completion of this seminar, participants will be able to efficiently communicate with attorneys and applicants, both in written form and orally.
Participants must have at least two years of patent examination experience, as well as basic experience in dialog with attorneys/applicants. Furthermore, a good command of English, both orally and in writing, is required.
