After a first run of the EPO Patent Information Beginners Seminars (EPIBS) which was held in Vienna in July & September 2003 the EPO is delighted to offer also this year two "beginners' seminars" for new and future users of patent information.
Participants in the beginners seminar will receive a thorough grounding in patent information and should be able to understand and work with the EPO's products and services after the four day course. The seminar has been developed with the specific needs of newcomers in mind and aims to ease the transition into the mysterious and sometimes strange world of patents and patent information.
Seminar participants are required to pay the seminar fees prior to the course, via banc transfer, credit card or deposit account. The registration for a seminar will become valid as soon as the payment of the participation fee has arrived at the EPO. You will be notified of this via e-mail.
The seminar is a 4-day introduction into the world of patent information. The first day and a half is a general introduction into the patent system and gives insight into the benefit of patent information as well as the various granting procedures and patent information products. At the beginning, there will be mainly lectures and discussions. Starting on the second afternoon the participants will also have PCs in order to allow for real hands-on experience and exercises with our patent information services. During the seminar the participants will have many opportunities to speak to trainers and experts on various areas of patent information.
Each participant will receive a seminar folder which will include the presentations in paper form.
The EPO has compiled a list of selected hotels in Vienna.
To book a room at preferential rates in one of these hotels, all you have to do is go to our recommended external online booking tool on the BCD Travel website (available in English only) and click on "Destination shortcut".
To make a booking you will have to register on the BCD Travel website first.
The fee for this four days seminar is 1000 EUR.
The price for students is 300 EUR (only applicable if student ID is valid over the whole seminar time period).
The fee covers participation in the seminar and includes the participant package with seminar support material, refreshments during the seminar as well as the cocktail reception and the social evening event.
